I like the simple directness of the writing. I really wanted to see more personal interpretations of lived and felt time, given that there were 16 different writers. I feel like many went for the vastness and cosmic nature of time, but this one felt intensely personal. Enjoyed reading it.

Wonder how it’ll feel once 2027 actually rolls around and you’ll have to renew your licence!

Oh my--I hadn’t thought of that yet! Perhaps that occasion will merit a post of its own. Thank you for reading! :)

Thanks for penning this. Yes, it's true: women age differently. It seems our faces and bodies bear wrinkles, that are not just signs of age but of battles fought. Strange indeed to find oneself at the far end of 'forever'.

In the age of my innocence, I failed to notice that women age differently; not one birthday after another, like everyone else, but in the one minute of the microwave oven, in the four minutes of the French press, and in the hour point five of the dishwasher. - so poignant..loved the whole piece. I had not realised that my drivers license was past its renewal date until 2 years after. Just like you, 20 years for me was far too ahead in the future until it was in the past.

This hit HARD, Richa! Its amazing how fast time flies! I couldn’t imagine being as old as I am now, 20 years ago. The way the world is going, I pray that there is still a world, one we can still recognise, to live in. Loved how you described the journey! Thank you for sharing!

Despite all that’s said and done about how quickly time passes us by, it never fails to catch us off guard! Thank you for reading.

It’s funny that you write about the experience of time on the very day I begin reading Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman. One of the central ideas of the book is to make peace with the idea that there is finite time, and that we will never have enough of it to do everything. And that, in a way, we ARE time. Much love and thanks for sharing these essays. 🤍
